Let’s take a closer look at the stats… First up we have the M3 CS Touring. Under the bonnet, it ‘only’ has a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, producing 550hp and 650Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and as new it costs £120,600. It’s clearly the heavier of the two cars, weighing 1,850kg. Then we come to the R8 GT. It’s powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10, and this creates 620hp and 565Nm. However, unlike the M3 CS, it’s exclusively Rear Wheel Drive! But on the flip side, it’s a whole lot lighter than the BMW, weighing in at just 1,570kg! So the BMW can send power to all four wheels, but it’s almost 300kg heavier than the R8!
