أعلنت وزارة الطاقة فتح 4 بوابات مفيض في سد الفرات لأول مرة منذ أكثر من ثلاثة عقود لضمان سلامة السدود واستقرار الكهرباء، وذلك على خلفية ارتفاع منسوب مياه النهر عن معدله الطبيعي.
وقال وزير الطاقة، محمد البشير، إنه بعد زيادة الواردات المائية من الجانب التركي تم فتح البوابة رقم 4 ليصبح إجمالي التدفق في نهر الفرات 1800 متر مكعب في الثانية.
ودعا الدفاع المدني إلى إخلاء المنازل والمحال التجارية القريبة من النهر، وإيقاف عمليات الإبحار بالزوارق وعبّارات المياه، وتخفيف العبور عبر الجسور الترابية، والامتناع عنه في حال ارتفاع منسوب المياه، ووقف السباحة في هذه الفترة، ونقل العائلات والثروة الحيوانية والآليات والمعدات الزراعية إلى مناطق آمنة ومرتفعة .
