Discussing the perception of Gujarati folk influences in his compositions, Darbar clarifies that not all of his work carries Gujarati musical elements. He explains that films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam required Gujarati folk sounds because of their cultural setting, while projects such as Devdas and Kisna: The Warrior Poet followed entirely different musical demands.
