I’m so excited to be back to exploring street food in China. In this video, I'm taking you and my friend Alex around on this Chinese food tour. This is the most famous Muslim chinese street food city in China, packed with halal delights you need to try! Not only that, it also has regular Chinese street food as well!
My friend Alex came to China for the first time, and I took him around for tons of amazing Chinese street food.
Xi’an is home to the Hui Muslim Chinese community, and the Muslim street food here is incredibly delicious! This district is packed with delights! This is where Chinese and Middle Eastern flavors are prevalent everywhere! Lots of hand pulled noodles, blade sheared noodles, tons of lamb, cumin, and flatbread. This is one of the most delicious cuisines in the world. This is the home of the silk road, and this food traveled across Central Asia into the Middle East and also influenced cooking in Europe.
In this video (part 3 of 4), we try some of the most famous Xi'an foods, Muslim Chinese street foods and also non-halal street foods you must eat in Xi’an.
First up is the SajinQiao street foor market.
We started the day at Sajinqiao street food Morning Market, one of Xi’an’s busiest street food spots. First up was Jinggao, AKA zenggao a sticky rice street cake packed with sweet red bean paste. Soft, chewy, and slightly smoky from the griddle, it’s a Xi’an breakfast classic (Price: 10RMB / ~$1.40USD).
Next up is the famous Chinese Jianbing Crepe! You gotta try it! Found deep in the back alleyways near Sajinqiao, only about 10-20RMB per jianbing depending on how much you add ($1.40-$3.00)
Next up, we also had some amazing hulatang special spicy and peppery beef soup! Hulatang (胡辣汤) is a rich, peppery soup that originated in Henan province but also famous in Xi'an with the hui muslim chinese. It is especially famous in cities like Luohe and Kaifeng, though it’s now beloved across northern China.
Next up was a famous Liangpi joint with tons of sesame paste and homemade chili oil and special vinegar! Found at 盛家酿皮, this is one of my favourite cold jelly noodle spots in Xi'an!
We also found some steamed dumplings at a little hole in the wall in the muslim quarter! And then went to finish off the night with one of the most famous Xi'an street foods you need to try, well actually it's from Xinjiang but it's also really good here too! The Dapanji big plate chicken! Found at 清真 伊布拉 大盘鸡 in the muslim district of Xi'an!
I hope you enjoy this street food video with my friend Alex! It was so much fun showing him around Xi’an and introducing him to Hui Muslim Chinese street food!
