Sukhvinder Sircar reveals the deeply guarded theological mystery of Radha's supremacy over Krishna.
She talks about the sacred land of Puri, known as Sri Kshetra, the divine abode revered as the land of Goddess Lakshmi, the embodiment of wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness. Devotees have long associated this place with her blessings, where spiritual abundance flows eternally.
It is also famously called Purushottam Kshetra, the land of Lord Jagannath. The term “Purushottam” itself is deeply significant. It translates to the Supreme Being, the best among all lords, the ultimate personification of divinity. Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu, is worshipped here as the protector and the highest expression of cosmic consciousness.
Another beautiful name for this holy place is Shankha Kshetra. The entire region of Puri Dham is geographically shaped like a conch shell. The conch, or shankha, holds immense spiritual importance in Hindu tradition, symbolizing purity, sound, and the primordial vibration of creation. The thin portion of this conch-shaped land extends gracefully into the sea, while the center of the conch precisely marks the location of the revered Jagannath Temple.
Puri is also referred to as Dhauma Vaikunth or Matsya Vaikunth. Vaikunth, as we know, is the celestial abode where Lord Vishnu resides in his full glory. Here on earth, Puri represents that very divine residence — an earthly Vaikunth where devotees can experience the presence of the Lord in a tangible way.
Furthermore, it is known as Dasavatara Kshetra, the sacred site connected to the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to tradition, this is where the first incarnation as Matsya — the divine fish — began. It marks the origin point of Vishnu’s descent to protect dharma and restore balance in the universe.
With such rich, overlapping layers of spiritual meaning, this land carries multiple dimensions of divinity. Each name reflects a different aspect of its glory — from prosperity and supreme divinity to cosmic symbolism and the beginning of Vishnu’s avatars. These interconnected significances make Sri Kshetra, or Purushottam Kshetra, truly unique and profoundly sacred. #shorts
