heavy duty parts washer
Video Description
The heavy duty parts washer build is finally complete. After weeks of fabrication, fitting and problem solving, it’s time to get this thing painted, assembled and tested for the first time. With the weather finally clearing up, we start by laying down grey primer before spraying the workshop blue enamel top coat. The paint might not be perfect, but it completely transforms the look of the machine and finally makes it feel like a finished unit. From there it’s onto the final fit out. Levelling feet, cabinet latches, plumbing fittings, filter setup, pump installation, manifold assembly and all the hoses get fitted before we fill the tank with Jet A1 solvent and fire it up for the first full test run. Before we can clean anything properly, we also need to build a custom cleaning lance. That means a quick trip over to the lathe to machine some fittings, weld up the lance assembly and fit a custom 3D printed nozzle. Once everything is together, we put it to work cleaning a large hydraulic cylinder barrel along with a few smaller parts to really see how the design performs in a real workshop environment. This build turned out better than we expected and there’s honestly nothing else quite like it on the market. It’s going to be a huge upgrade for the workshop and should save a massive amount of time cleaning parts in the future.
