The black and white imagery, intensely atmospheric scenes shot in the rain and at night, and profligate violence, combined to give an impression of America as a frightening, dark and dangerous place. It also introduces, or perhaps perpetuates, a common theme in Hollywood productions of good triumphing over bad (as understood at that time), in spite of Elliot Ness being as devious as the criminals. The video features Gil with his 1965 Hofner Galaxie guitar, which he painted in the psychedelic colours of that era, and a Gibson Nighthawk on which he plays slide, and also a wildly swinging flute solo by Bruna Caroline Nazário.
