Polish Sasur Tries Indian Pani Puri (Golgappe)

Watching my Polish sasur take his first bite of pani puri was pure entertainment. The crisp puri cracks instantly, followed by a sudden explosion of spicy, tangy, minty water that no one ever warns you about properly. His confident smile lasts exactly two seconds- then come the wide eyes, raised eyebrows, and that unmistakable pause where he’s trying to decide whether to cough, laugh, or ask for water. There’s confusion at first: “Is it sweet? Is it spicy? Why is there water inside?” Then comes curiosity. The second golgappa is eaten more carefully… the third with growing confidence. By the fourth, he’s nodding in approval, admitting that this tiny street snack somehow manages to hit every flavour at once sweet, sour, spicy, and refreshing. What starts as hesitation quickly turns into appreciation, proving once again that Indian street food doesn’t need translation.
