Who is Amar Khan?
Amar Khan (Urdu: امر خان) is a Pakistani television actress, director, and writer. She is known for portraying diverse and challenging roles across television, film, and short-form content, including Neelofur, a witch spirit in the 2018 supernatural horror series Belapur Ki Dayan. She has also appeared in leading roles in Ghughi, Dil-e-Bereham, and Choti Choti Batain, and played an antagonist in Dil-e-Gumshuda. Her critically acclaimed performances include Heer in Heer Da Hero, Irha in Daraar, Samra in Qayamat, Abeer in Baddua, and Mishaal in Breaking News.
Born in Lahore, Punjab, Amar Khan is the daughter of actress Fareeha Jabeen. She completed her education in filmmaking from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, and began creating short films during her studies. She made her acting debut in the 2017 short film Chashm-e-Num, in which she also played a blind girl opposite Ahsan Khan. The project highlighted her early involvement as an actor, writer, and director.
In 2018, she gained widespread attention for Belapur Ki Dayan, where she portrayed Neelofur, a witch returning from the afterlife seeking revenge. The 20-episode weekly serial featured Adnan Siddiqui, Sarah Khan, and Irfan Khoosat, and earned her a nomination for Best Emerging Talent at the Lux Style Awards. She further showcased her versatility in TV One’s Ghughi, playing Nirmala, a Hindu girl who falls in love with a Muslim character played by Adnan Siddiqui. She continued her television career with roles such as Ayeza in Dil-e-Bereham opposite Wahaj Ali, Zeena in Choti Choti Batain, and Alizeh in Dil-e-Gumshuda as an antagonist. Her performance in Dil-e-Gumshuda was widely noted by critics for its depth and emotional impact.
Her later acclaimed television work includes Qayamat (Samra), Baddua (Abeer), Daraar (Irha), and Breaking News (Mishaal), with reviewers and media outlets highlighting her strong screen presence and performance consistency. In 2024, she appeared as Dania in Sunn Mere Dil, and in 2025, she featured in Dastakhat as Tara.
As a writer, Amar Khan has contributed to several critically recognized projects including Akkad Bakkad (2014), Dard-e-Dil (2015), Azaad Masi (2016), and Black Wednesday (2017), which premiered at the American Film Showcase and won Best Film Award in the Peace Category at the 60 Seconds International Film Awards. Her short film Chashm-e-Num also marked her writing and directorial work. She made her feature film debut in 2022 with Dum Mastam, directed by Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, where she starred opposite Imran Ashraf and also served as the writer. Her written Geo TV Ramadan drama Heer Da Hero became a major success, earning high ratings and praise for its humor and storytelling.
Her television film credits include Chashm-e-Num (2016, Ayesha; also director and writer), Iqbal – The Forgotten Story (2018, Naila), Pyar Problem (2021, Mahnoor), and Dil De Baithe (2025). In anthology series, she appeared in Ustani Jee (2018, Sanober, episodes 12–13), Choti Choti Batain (2019, Zeena in episode “Roop”), Aik Aur Munafiq (2020, Hamna in episode “Taqdeer”), and Kitni Girhain Baqi Hain (2023, Laiba in episode “Gol Roti”). She also appeared in the 2019 music video “Adha Adha” by Shani Arshad, alongside Ali Rehman Khan.
