Video Description
Take a step back to the early years of Sacramento baseball from the Gold Rush to the little leagues to the major leagues with our new exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum titled, “Play Ball! Sacramento in the National Pastime.” For our new exhibit, Jared letterpress printed the oldest baseball related item in our print shop exhibit. This electrotype (copy of woodcut) depicting a hand holding a baseball was made about 125-135 years ago from the Lewis Winter Collection. The text above, “Play Ball! Sacramento in the National Pastime,” was typeset in the Cheltenham Bold Condensed typeface. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. This temporary exhibit is presented by SMUD. Step up to the plate for a Clean PowerCity.
