Mandala of Light is an improvised piano and cello piece born from a remote recording session between cellist Fulvia Mancini and pianist Dylan John Sparkes. Two artists, two distances, one shared breath.
Guided by the image of light as a deep human state, the music unfolds without written notation, without boundaries, shaped only by intuition, silence, and the invisible thread that connects two listening souls.
What emerges is a quiet luminous conversation: piano and cello moving together like light through water, never forced, never predicted. Intimate and atmospheric, it carries the warmth of something felt before it is understood.
Part of Mandala, a 10-track album exploring the inner landscape of human experience, grace, light, darkness, surprise, dawn, each piece a journey taken without a map, guided only by emotion and trust.
"Becoming" is the unfolding of what we already are.
Stillness is not the absence of life, but in the space wherein life reveals itself.
In this album, nothing is forced.
Each piece is born in the now, the moment of presence, piano and cello meeting without plan, without expectation, allowing something beyond us to speak through sound.
Improvisation becomes a mirror of existence. Just as we move through life without knowing what comes next, the music unfolds in trust, guided by feeling rather than thought or rigidity.
There is no fixed meaning here,
only a shared exploration of what it is to be human, to feel, to question, to remember, to become.
The cello carries the voice of emotion,
the piano, the quiet awareness beneath it.
Together, they move through time as one,
touching past, present, and future in a single exhale.
Inspired loosely by the worlds and moods of the accompanying playlist, yet not confined by it, this work exists beyond reference. More a reflection of something timeless.
This is not music to understand,
but music to experience.
A space to pause,
to feel,
and to return to yourself.
