Video Description
NOTE: We have used American pronunciations of French terms and place names in this video. Have you ever heard of the Hundred Years’ War? It was a drawn-out conflict between England and France over who should rule France that lasted on and off from 1337 to 1453. One of the most famous figures of this war is Joan of Arc, and today we are going to learn more about her in this educational video for kids.   Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in Domrémy, France. She was an ordinary peasant girl who grew up working on her family’s farm.   When she was around 13 years old, Joan began hearing what she believed were heavenly voices. The voices told her that God had chosen her to help save France from English rule. At the time, English forces had taken control of much of the northern part of France, and many people in the country feared that France would lose the war and the English would occupy their land.   We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about Joan of Arc!
