Video Description
Ottawa police have charged two men with dozens of offences after a months-long investigation into the alleged use of artificial intelligence deepfakes to create and distribute sexual content without consent. CTV's Josh Marano reports that acting Staff Sgt. Rob Mills of the Ottawa Police Service says investigators have identified more than 50 victims across Canada, ranging in age from 16 to 55, including 27 women in Ottawa; a six-year-old boy has died after drowning in the Rideau River near Mooney's Bay Beach in Ottawa, prompting renewed water safety warnings ahead of the summer season. CTV's Tyler Fleming reports that Marc Antoine Deschamps of the Ottawa Paramedic Service says bystanders pulled the child from the water and began CPR before paramedics and Ottawa firefighters continued resuscitation efforts during transport to hospital; and efforts to slow traffic on Ottawa streets are shifting to speed cushions after the provincial government banned photo radar, with the City of Ottawa now eligible for nearly $24 million in provincial funding to implement traffic-calming measures at former photo radar locations. CTV's Peter Szperling speaks with Ottawa city councillor Tim Tierney and east Ottawa resident Nina Eguren, who says cars on her street are travelling at 60 to 70 kilometres an hour and that she was never in favour of removing the speed cameras.
