Lashkar-e-Taiba deputy chief Saifullah Kasuri has sparked fresh controversy in Pakistan with a fiery speech against Israel during Eid-ul-Adha. Kasuri openly warned that “whoever accepts Israel will be destroyed,” at a time when former US President Donald Trump has been urging Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, to join the Abraham Accords and normalise ties with Israel. Kasuri also spoke about Pakistan-Saudi defence cooperation and made provocative remarks about jihad and Islamic leadership. The speech has intensified debate inside Pakistan over Israel, extremism and the possible pressure radical groups may exert on the government if Islamabad ever considers changing its stance.
