Video Description
Governments around the world are grappling with how to harness the benefits of artificial intelligence while at the same time managing its risks. Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled Canada's strategy to deal with the rapidly developing technology with promises to protect data, privacy and children in what is a multi-billion-dollar, multi-year plan to make the country a global AI leader. David Akin has more. An Alberta energy company is sounding the alarm, saying Canada stands to lose billions of dollars worth of clean energy investment. Varme Energy says recent changes are lowering the price of carbon and putting its future viability at risk. Heather Yourex-West has the details. Premier Doug Ford has charged Ontario taxpayers more than $140,000 over the past year to charter private flights across Canada and the United States, according to publicly-available records, revealing a change in habits for the once infamously penny-pinching politician. As Colin D’Mello reports, the chartered flights cost anywhere between $1,800 to nearly $9,000 per person, depending on the distance, costing taxpayers a grand total of $143,498.16. Plus, a remarkable story of survival has emerged from one of the most unforgiving places on Earth, Mount Everest. A sherpa who disappeared nearly a week ago without food or bottled oxygen while descending the world’s tallest peak has been found alive. Touria Izri reports.
