A troop of Indian Gray Langurs (Semnopithecus entellus), also known as Hanuman langurs, moving through the forested landscape of Mudumalai National Park. These highly social primates are easily recognized by their silver-grey fur, jet-black faces, dark ears, and exceptionally long tails used for balance while climbing and leaping through trees. Multiple individuals are visible together, reflecting the species’ organized troop structure and social behavior. At the center of the scene, an adult female carries a young infant clinging to her body, a common behavior among langurs for protection and bonding.
Infant langurs are typically born with darker fur that gradually changes to the pale grey coloration of adults as they mature. Mudumalai National Park, located in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve of southern India, provides important habitat for diverse wildlife including elephants, tigers, deer, and several primate species. The footage documents the family interactions and natural social dynamics of one of India’s most iconic monkeys.
