El exsecretario también a negado que ordenase la operación Kitchen para espiar a Bárcenas: “No, jamás”, y al ser preguntado sobre si alguna vez oyó hablar de la operación Kitchen durante su etapa en la Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad, Francisco Martínez ha contestado: “Nunca. Jamás. Es una denominación periodística".
