Video Description
This song is a love letter to the Christmases of my youth, and a note of gratitude to my parents who, despite having very little disposable income back then, always somehow managed to make those Christmases extra special and magical for me and my 8 siblings (Yes 8, that’s not a typo). And of course it was also a great excuse for me to nerd out on all the classic video games that defined my childhood, and my generation. Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5iviyusbGSwmLGhWX1k7Mx Apple Music: http://itunes.apple.com/album/id/1783597119 The song was produced and mixed by the incredibly talented and frustratingly kind Jordan Lehning. He also engineered, played the piano, chimes, tubular bells, wrote the string arrangement, assembled and recorded an adorable makeshift children’s choir (that included his own children and several of my nieces and nephews) etc. Needless to say, this track would not exist without him. When I reached out to him in November and asked if he had any time to record a quick last-minute Christmas song, he had no idea what he was getting into, but he pulled off a Christmas miracle! The rhythmic genius Dom Billet pa rum pa pum pummed the drums for us, and the great Jon Estes played upright bass. The lovely strings were played Alicia Enstrom, Annaliese Kower, Betsy Lamb, and Emily Rogers. The album artwork and all the beautiful animation in the music video were created by the brilliant and extremely patient Fred Heidbrink. A very special thank you to Tyler Esposito of "My Retro Life" for generously letting us use the heartwarming home video footage of him and his family on their very own "Genesis Christmas."
