Video Description
Shadow Defence Minister James Paterson has spoken out about the “godlike” discretionary powers that allow Treasurer Jim Chalmers to make changes to CGT and negative gearing laws after they are voted on in parliament. “This is a major admission of guilt from Jim Chalmers, he knows he has completely stuffed this up,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia. “The prime minister has admitted himself, he lied to the Australian people on 50 occasions about CGT and negative gearing. “These are not people to trust with godlike powers to make changes at the stroke of a pen after the legislation has passed. They should actually get the legislation right.”
