Video Description
Chinese authorities have launched a "tough and uncompromising" probe and vowed to severely punish those responsible for a deadly gas explosion in North China, which has killed at least 90 people. This follows instructions issued by Chinese President Xi Jinping, who called for thorough investigations. An accident investigation team led by senior state leaders has been formed to determine the cause of the accident. Search operations are ongoing but flooding around the explosion site has made it difficult for rescuers. The accident happened just before 8pm local time Friday at the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province. Local media said 247 workers were on duty underground. Krystal Chia reports.
