A female Plum-headed Parakeet (Psittacula cyanocephala) perched naturally on a tree branch in Satpura Tiger Reserve. The bird displays the subtle yet elegant coloration characteristic of female plum-headed parakeets, including a bluish-grey head, pale yellowish neck-ring, and a light creamy upper beak. Unlike males of the species, females lack the vivid plum-colored head and bold black neck ring. Plum-headed Parakeets are medium-sized arboreal parrots native to the Indian subcontinent and are commonly found in forests, woodland edges, orchards, and riverine habitats. They are social birds that feed on fruits, seeds, berries, flowers, and cultivated crops.
