Video Description
Original Video Credit: IG/old_house_will Many older homes used automatic drop seals built directly into interior doors to block sound, drafts, dust, and light. The mechanism stays hidden inside the bottom edge of the door until it closes. When the door shuts, a small pin on the side gets pressed against the frame and activates a spring loaded seal underneath. A felt or rubber strip then drops down to close the gap between the door and the floor. As soon as the door opens again, the seal retracts back into the door so it does not drag across the floor. The system was an early space saving alternative to permanent door sweeps and draft blockers. No copyright infringement intended. Content is shared for educational purposes only.
