Originally from the Philippines, John is an international student at Yoobee Colleges studying for his Bachelor’s in Software Engineering, specialising in Game Development. For John, Yoobee stood out from traditional universities because of its hands-on, personalised approach to learning. With small class sizes and supportive tutors who truly connect with students, he felt at home from the moment he arrived in New Zealand. John chose game development as his major with the dream of creating cozy, customisable games that offer players a sense of comfort and connection — a digital “third place” where people can feel supported and make meaningful online friendships. Inspired by the role of video games during the pandemic, John wants to contribute to that space with thoughtful, community-driven experiences. He values Yoobee’s practical teaching methods, strong tutor relationships, and real-world preparation that equips him with both the skills and confidence to enter the industry.
