Video Description
In this deeply moving TEDxDSU talk at Dayananda Sagar University, Owomugisha Mauricious shares her powerful journey from growing up across orphanages in Uganda to pursuing higher education in India. Through resilience, hope, and determination, she speaks about overcoming adversity, finding purpose, and using education and technology to empower lives and create inclusive futures. Supercharging India’s AI future with DSU. India’s AI-First University. At 26, her life reflects resilience, strength, and hope. Born in Uganda, she was separated from her family at a young age and grew up across three orphanages, often without consistent access to basic needs or emotional support. These experiences shaped her ability to endure hardship and remain hopeful despite uncertainty. A turning point came at Malayaka House, where she found care, belonging, and encouragement. This support helped her believe in a future beyond survival. Education became her path forward, despite financial and emotional challenges. Today, she is pursuing a Master’s in Business Management in India, specializing in Human Resources and Artificial Intelligence. Her journey from Uganda to India represents transformation and growth. Inspired by her experiences, she aims to create inclusive systems that empower people, proving that one’s past does not define their future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
