Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan have faced another legal setback in the alleged dual PAN card case. A Rampur MP-MLA Sessions Court has increased Azam Khan’s jail term from 7 years to 10 years and raised the fine from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh after hearing the state government’s appeal for stricter punishment. Abdullah Azam Khan’s 7-year sentence has been upheld, though his fine has been increased to ₹3.5 lakh. The case relates to allegations of possessing and using fake PAN cards. BJP MLA Akash Saxena called the verdict “historic”.
