Engine Cover Assembled & Tail Light Fabrication | Franna Crane Project | Part 32

We’re back on the Franna Crane Project for Part 32 and things are starting to really take shape on the rear frame! The new plates are finally here, so we can finish assembling the engine and transmission covers. With that sorted the next job is the tail light fabrication. We decided to use the existing horizontal light pockets which meant drilling right through the counterweight to clear out the old wiring hole. Kurtis machines up a custom extension for a masonry drill bit to punch through the corroded holes, and after a bit of persistence we finally thread airline pipe through for the wiring. There’s still the existing rust damage to deal with, so we went for the quick fix, cutting and welding plate over the top to seal it off. We also fit and welded in custom light brackets to make future install of our new tail lights much easier. Plenty of fabrication, machining, welding and problem solving in this one.
