Leolabs tracks more than 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit through a free real-time map of satellites, rocket parts, debris, and unidentified objects. The platform shows where each object is right now, along with its trajectory and, in many cases, its model.
Green markers represent over 11,000 active satellites supporting internet, GPS, and communications, while yellow marks separated rocket stages, red highlights space debris, and blue indicates objects detected by radar but not yet classified. The result is a live view of how crowded Earth’s orbital environment has become.
The broader significance is orbital safety. Leolabs uses ground-based radar tracking to help prevent collisions in space, a growing challenge as satellite launches accelerate and debris continues to accumulate in low Earth orbit.
