During my journey of eating across all states of India I had the privilege of sharing a traditional lunch inside a Mising family’s home in Assam. The meal was cooked over a wood fired kitchen using organic vegetables, smoked pork, sticky rice, dal and local chutneys that reflect the everyday food culture of the community.
What made this experience special was not just the flavours but the warmth of the family who welcomed me into their home and showed me how their food is prepared using simple ingredients and traditional techniques passed down through generations.
This is part of my 28 Weeks 28 States journey where I am travelling across India to experience regional food in the most authentic way possible through homes kitchens and local stories.
