Rescuers pull out first survivor from flooded Laos cave

Specialist divers have pulled one man out from a flooded cave in central Laos on Friday (May 29), as four more people remained trapped. The survivors have been trapped since May 20. The five Lao nationals had entered the cave in Xaisomboun province to hunt for gold, but their exit was blocked. It took about 37 minutes to bring the first freed man through the passages to safety. Rescuers said they had stopped operations for the night as they evaluated the remaining four people they had found.
