Birth order is having a moment on our socials. We love to explore how being the eldest/ youngest/ middle child (delete as appropriate) affects our personality, relationships and outlook.

We all know the stereotypes; the eldest child is more conscientious and responsible. The middle child gets overlooked and craves attention. The youngest is indulged and a risk-taker. We hear the experiences from three of our BBC pals; Faith Oshoko in Nigeria, Santiago Vanegas Maldonado from Colombia and Jacob Evans in the UK, who each have a different birth order.
BUT is there any evidence that your birth order affects your personality, and that people with the same birth order, for instance the eldest child, share any characteristics? Personality psychologist Julia Rohrer, from Leipzig University in Germany explains.
