In 2001, FC Bayern Munich faced FC Valencia in the final of the Champions League. After the game had not found a winner after 90 minutes, an exciting penalty shoot-out had to decide which of both teams will bring the trophy home. Thanks to an outstanding performance of goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, and goals by Salihamidzic, Zickler, Effenberg, Lizarazu and Linke, Bayern Munich won the shoot-out and the final for the fourth time in their history.
