Marco Rubio hopeful Israel-Lebanon peace negotiations will be successful

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is hopeful peace negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will be successful. Mr Rubio is giving evidence to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a second day, where he is being grilled on the war with Iran. “As I speak to you now for the second consecutive day and for the first time in many, many years, the leaders of the legitimate government of Lebanon and leaders from the government of Israel are seated at the State Department for the second day in a row,” Mr Rubio said. “And hopefully today will produce a joint statement and an action plan.” The debate got tense at times when Mr Rubio was asked whether US President Donald Trump was warned about the economic consequences of the war on the public.
