Singapore wants to become a leading global hub for artificial intelligence — but not at the expense of society, said Digital Development and Information Minister Josephine Teo on Wednesday (May 20).
In an interview with Reuters, Teo said Singapore is focused not just on attracting top AI companies to develop and deploy solutions, but also on testing systems for robustness and safety.
She added that Singapore is developing AI testing frameworks and accrediting organisations that can independently assess whether AI systems meet ethical and safety standards.
“I think we all recognise that trust is an important foundation to sustain innovation,” she said.
