Master Builders Australia Chief Executive Denita Wawn has revealed an independent team has found the assertions made by the government on the impact of housing taxes to be “not” true.
Ms Wawn said their modelling proved to be "contrary to the Labor government’s”.
“The main impact is you will see property investors out of the property market. They will look at parking their money elsewhere, and so you will have a decline in the number of rental properties,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Of course we want to see greater home ownership, but if you’re still struggling with a small amount of supply you will see this difference between prices going down for first homeowners, but prices going up for renters.
“We are based on a very credible independent modelling team that has given us a baseline to say whether or not the assertions made by the federal government were correct. They say it is not.”
