Iran and the US appear to be closing in on a tentative deal that could extend their ceasefire and crucially set the table for more substantive talks - including crucial negotiations on Tehran's nuclear programme. The question now is whether both leaders will sign it. US Vice President JD Vance says negotiators continue to go back and forth - on what he refers to as 'a couple of language points'. Since April, mediation efforts have been supported by Pakistan and its foreign minister is in Washington. News of the agreement came following a trading of strikes in the Gulf - with the US targeting the port of Bandar Abbas - and Kuwait repelling missiles it says were fired from Iran.
