‘A credible threat’: How Trump's midterm indifference is ruining Iran’s leverage

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney claims US President Donald Trump is creating a "credible threat" to Iran by downplaying the impact of the midterms. “The best threat is a credible threat, and it’s completely credible for Donald Trump to look at the Iranians and go, I don’t care about the midterms,” Mr Mulvaney told Sky News host James Morrow. “He’s not on the ballot; his life won’t change that much if his party loses the House or even the Senate. “I think it’s a credible threat to the Iranians … they were sitting back thinking they could put political pressure on him and force him into a bad deal.”
