'Testing our patience!' Drilon casts doubt on Cayetano's claim e-voting not tied to VP Duterte trial

'TO SAY THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IMPEACHMENT IS TESTING OUR PATIENCE!' Former Senate President Franklin Drilon on Monday (June 1) blasted anew the Senate majority bloc, including Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, for pushing amendments to the chamber's rules that would allow senators to vote remotely through teleconferencing. Drilon said the amendments could enable the majority bloc to vote on matters related to the impeachment proceeding against Vice President Sara Duterte, including any move to subpoena bank records. Responding to claims that the impeachment rules would remain untouched even if the Senate rules are amended, Drilon argued that the chamber's rules have "suppletory application" and may still be invoked in impeachment proceedings.
