10 US activists arrested while blocking arms shipment to Israel

A group of US activists were arrested after attempting to block an arms shipment to Israel near New York City. “Actionists blockaded the road using an RV and a truck with a boat hitched to its carriage, fastening themselves to the vehicles and to one another using ‘sleeping dragon’-style PVC devices,” Port Workers and Communities for Palestine said in a statement. Democracy Now reported that at least 10 protesters were arrested. “These shipments are only a handful of thousands of shipments by ZIM & Maersk of weapons, weapons components, armored and tactical vehicles, etc. that have already been transported from the Port of Elizabeth,” organisers said in a statement. “We know it is our responsibility to disrupt the flow of arms that fuels the genocidal US-‘Israeli’ war machine. We will continue to show up in protest, calling on port workers to refuse the movement of this weapons shipment,” they added.
