Ukraine's Azov fighters hitting back on Russia-occupied Mariupol

In May 2022, hundreds of Ukraine's Azov fighters were killed or captured when, after months of bombardment, Russian forces took control of the port of Mariupol.
Four years later, the rebuilt Azov Regiment is setting its sights on its home city on the Azov Sea... and making Moscow pay for its occupation.
Azov chief of staff, Col. Arsen Dmytryk, spoke to Reuters about Ukraine’s expanding strike campaign targeting Russian military logistics.
DMYTRYK: “The motivation is this: first, our guys are still in captivity, and there are more than 700 of them. Second, it’s our guys who have died. And third, it’s our country.”
Dmytryk was among those captured by Russia then later freed.
DMYTRYK: “When we were in captivity, the Muscovites told us that they wanted to destroy, destroy, destroy us. But somehow their 'destruction' keeps scaling up Azov instead.”
Last week, drones belonging to First Corps Azov streaked across the sky above Mariupol’s strategic seaport.
According to Kyiv’s military, the operation targeted electrical substations, repair facilities and a sanctioned ship and plunged the port into a blackout.
Dmytryk says there’s more to come in Ukraine's bid to grind down Moscow's war machine.
