The newest IPL 2026 sensation in Indian cricket is clearly Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose awesome performances in IPL have triggered massive excitement about whether he could soon enter India’s senior national team.
The Rajasthan Royals batter has become one of the biggest stories of the season. His fearless batting, huge six-hitting ability, and astonishing strike rate have made many fans compare him to some of India’s greatest white-ball talents. Recent reports highlighted his brutal 97 off only 29 balls in the IPL Eliminator, where he narrowly missed breaking Chris Gayle’s fastest IPL century record.
The young left-hander has already broken several age-related records. Earlier, he became the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket and one of the youngest IPL debutants ever. His 35-ball IPL century instantly made him a national sensation.
A major reason the discussion exploded recently is because Sooryavanshi has now officially turned 15 — the minimum age required under ICC rules for participation in senior international cricket. That means he is now eligible to represent India at the highest level if selectors choose him.
Because of his IPL performances, reports say selectors are already considering him for future India tours, especially white-ball cricket. Some media outlets even claimed there is growing pressure on the BCCI to fast-track his debut, potentially making him one of the youngest players ever to represent India internationally.
For now, Sooryavanshi remains part of Rajasthan Royals, but the conversation has already shifted from “future prospect” to “future India star.” If his form continues, many believe a Team India debut may arrive much sooner than expected.
