Instead of sending power through a single fixed path, a two way switching circuit constantly reroutes electricity between two traveler wires connected to both switches.
When the switches are in opposite positions, the electrical path is completed and the light turns on. When both switches match positions, the circuit breaks and the bulb switches off.
That simple arrangement behaves exactly like an XOR logic gate, where the output only activates when the two inputs are different. It is one of the most common examples of real world electrical logic found inside everyday buildings.
