Researchers in east China's Zhenjiang City recently utilized football fans to help gather brain-computer-interface information.
A group of 15 fans donned foam caps with electrodes… and raingear to keep it dry… as they watched a match.
The BCI device used near-infrared technology to detect their emotions by measuring changes in cerebral hemoglobin levels.
For those that participated, the cap was less bothersome that it looked.
The technology is expected to be used in other large-scale sporting and cultural events, to optimize atmosphere and to quantify the spectator experience.
