How do you train a robot in China? With the help of data collectors and auditors: humans that perform repetitive tasks while attached to sensors and cameras.
This group of data collectors is working at a national training center for humanoid robots in east China's Jiangsu Province.
By repeating simple movements across different positions tens of thousands of times, collectors compile the extensive information that trains humanoid robots.
This training device is fitted with over 3,000 contact point to record 80 dimensions of information like hardness, softness and surface texture.
The humans that verify that data that's been collected say the movements are not always considered "correct" but are equally important to incorporate so that the robots learn from their mistakes.
Experts predict that China's humanoid robot market will reach more than 58 billion U.S. dollars in the next five years and create over one million new jobs.
