nstalled inside the Denver Performing Arts Complex, this massive kinetic sculpture called Magic Canopy transforms hundreds of static 3D printed figures into what looks like fully animated motion.
As the platform spins, the sculptures blur together until synchronized LED strobe lights begin flashing at the exact same rhythm as the rotating display. Each figure is frozen in a slightly different pose, allowing your brain to stitch the flashes together into smooth movement.
The installation also pays tribute to Denver public art, including references to the famous Big Blue Bear and Fernando Botero sculptures. It combines one of the oldest principles in animation with modern lighting systems, precision timing, and large scale 3D printing.
