Why pick Marcoleta, Jinggoy as Blue Ribbon vice-chairs when they're accused of plunder, Kiko asks

Alan Peter Cayetano is really interested in finding the truth about the flood control mess, why did they choose two senators accused of plunder - Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Rodante Marcoleta - as vice-chairmen of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee? Sen. Kiko Pangilinan posed this question following a Senate shakeup that installed Sen. Erwin Tulfo as the new Blue Ribbon Chair vice Sen. Pia Cayetano. “Kung interesado sila sa anti-corruption, bakit ang dalawang vice chairman ng Blue Ribbon Committee na hinalal nila parehong may kasong plunder? So ibig sabihin drama lang ito unfortunately. Sana makita ng ating mga kababayan yan,” he said in a DZMM interview. The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee earlier revealed links to the flood control scandal and Estrada, who is accused of pocketing kickbacks from flood control projects. Marcoleta, meanwhile, has been accused of lawyering for the Discaya couple who are accused of facilitating billions of pesos in kickbacks to lawmakers. Marcoleta’s wife also sits as board director for Stronghold Insurance Company, which issued surety bonds for construction firms owned by the Discayas. Pangilinan denied that Cayetano’s removal is meant to block the Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing, saying it has been rescheduled to June 8. Cayetano has rejected her removal, saying Wednesday’s shakeup is illegal due to lack of quorum.
