The Russia-Ukraine war has deeply affected several Indian families after young men allegedly lured with promises of jobs and better income ended up in the Russian military. During a hearing in the Supreme Court, the Union government revealed that 217 Indians had joined the Russian Armed Forces during the conflict. Out of them, 49 have died, six remain missing and many families are still waiting for answers. Lawyers representing the families raised concerns over unidentified bodies and demanded action against agents accused of sending youths to Russia through false promises. The case has once again highlighted the human cost of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
