On this day I stayed in at the 4-star Harmony hotel, before heading out to eat some authentic Khmer food, then I had some drinks at street 136 before finally hitting an open mic night at Sharky's bar. Sihanoukville has been ruined by Chinese casinos and it looks like Phnom Penh might start going the same way. If you want to enjoy Phnom Penh as it is now do so quickly, as I expect in the near future there will be big changes and prices for everything will go up sharply. Harmony Phnom Penh hotel thoughts The good - Excellent location, close to the river and many bars and restaurants - Excellent rooftop bar, infinity pool and gym - Nice clean rooms, everything was in working order - Fantastic views from the upper floors, you can really see the Tonle Sap river and Royal Palace well The bad - No bath (I'm nitpicking here) - TV was relatively small (I'm really nitpicking here!) The ugly - The market nearby is sometimes known to have a pungent fish smell that is not very pleasant and it wafts into the Harmony hotel. This is from online reviews but on my stay I never noticed anything. Overall: I really enjoyed my stay at Harmony Phnom Penh hotel, and it exceeded my expectations in almost every way. I preferred this hotel to the Sun & Moon Urban hotel nearby due to the nice views and cheaper price for the room. If your budget is $50+ then definitely consider staying here, and also if you like nice views then pay extra for a higher floor room like I did (you won't regret it!).
