Tropical storm Jangmi — which was downgraded from a typhoon — battered southwestern Japan on Tuesday (Jun 2), knocking out power to tens of thousands of homes, grounding hundreds of flights and injuring nine people in Okinawa.
The storm prompted the evacuation of 390,000 people in Miyazaki city on the island of Kyushu. The storm also forced Japan’s two biggest airlines, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, to cancel a total 600 flights scheduled for Monday through Wednesday. #japan #japannews
