Residents in LaSalle, Que., are grappling with the death of a three-year-old after an inflatable play structure was sent airborne by a sudden gust of wind on Sunday afternoon during a community event.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued shortly before noon Sunday and was upgraded to a warning at around 3:50 p.m., 30 minutes before the tragedy occurred.
One company that installs inflatable play structures spoke to Global News and said there are currently no regulations in Quebec.
The tragedy is prompting renewed concerns over the erection of such structures when there’s a severe weather watch. Phil Carpenter reports.
