China is accelerating efforts in pushing forward the frontiers of quantum computing with domestically developed software and hardware.
Developed by Origin Quantum in east China's Anhui Province, China's third-gen superconducting quantum computer, Origin Wukong, has been running smoothly for two years now.
The quantum computer is powered by Wukong, a 72-qubit indigenous superconducting quantum chip.
At the sprawling lab, the faint hum filling the room comes from dilution refrigerators, the specialized cooling systems that bring quantum chips down to minus 273 degrees Celsius, allowing qubits to maintain stable signal control under strict magnetic shielding.
The head of the hardware development team for Origin Wukong says they are working to achieve full self-reliance.
Origin Quantum has also developed the world's first quantum computer operating system available for free global download.
Origin Wukong has been visited by remote access 47 million times from people in 163 countries and regions worldwide since its launch in January 2024.
